Blood War Blood Destiny Book 8 eBook Connie Suttle
This eighth installment in the Blood Destiny series by Connie Suttle shows Queen Lissa dealing with more assassination attempts, more personal heartache and more mates. After a thwarted uprising among some vampires over prohibiting compulsion for any reason on vampire mates, one of Lissa's mates loses his memory again, and when she moves to adopt his son (whom her mate cannot remember), some interference by someone close to Lissa causes her to lose the child. She resolves the kidnappers' issues only to find out that she won't get her child back. Meanwhile, Lissa is expected to be the level-headed monarch, governing her people and securing the planet's place in the Reth Alliance, grant diplomatic immunity to a royal from another planet in the Reth Alliance who has conspired to kill her, and then attend the Five-Year Conclave where she is vulnerable to the various groups that seek to kill her. It's all a bit much for her, and so we see Lissa have a bit of a meltdown. This novel has the most political intrigue of any in the series all against a backdrop of ongoing personal tragedy. At one point, Lissa asks if somebody somewhere decided that Lissa needed to be kicked continuously, that her life wasn't complete without crap happening to her constantly. It certainly seems like that is the case. Lissa just can't catch a break, and this novel closes with a major cliff-hanger.

Blood War Blood Destiny Book 8 eBook Connie Suttle Reviews
I am giving each book of this series a 4. However Some are better then others, I have re-read this series several times, and i usually start with book 4, 1-3 are very good, but they are the build up for the rest, books 4,6,7,8 are the really great books of the series.
I really don't have any bad things to say about the series. The characters are varied, and believable. The story starts as Urban Fantasy and goes to Sy Fy but thats one of the things i really enjoyed.
I have read the entire Blood Destiny series, and I just can't put them down. I was a little put out with Blood Queen, but I think that was just because the story changed course so drastically. I have since re-read the entire series. I love these books. I am not someone who generally writes reviews, but (for Connie Suttle's books), I just can't help myself. I would recommend these books to anyone!
Great Read, as are all her other books, including her young adult series. I am also looking forward to the High Demon series. Connie has become one of my top 2 writers.
I've read all of the books in this series and I have to say they are incredible. I never want to put them down once I've started!
I will say that books 7 and 8 did start to get a little complicated with the political intrigue and keeping up with the husbands. I had to really jog my memory to figure out where some of the hubbies fit into the story.
Other than that, the story was a fast paced and entertaining read. Poor Lissa! Someone close to her hurts her in every single book. It's a wonder she stays the kind and helpful person she is.
I HATE coming to the end of these books. EVERY single time I say, "Noooooooo!" when I see the words "The end."
Connie Suttle! Add about 200 MORE pages to these books!! lol
Since I started on this series back in December, I expected my interest to wane and the writing to disappoint given a series with this many installments. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the stories and the writing continue to deliver consistently good results. I'm usually a die-hard paranormal romance reader (lately young adult), but the world and characters and stories that Connie Suttle develops and weaves together in this series and in the Ir'Indicti series are so engaging that I have no problem breaking out of my genre shell. Her writing is so consistently good that each time another book comes out, I immediately download it. I don't even have to wonder if I'll like it.
Not only that, unlike other book series that I've read, where the main character practically becomes omnipotent, we have this powerful main character, Lissa, who still experiences very real human emotions and disappointments and tries to rise above the constant challenges that she faces.
Blood War continues from the last book and we experience Lissa's challenges in being a new Queen, face some heartbreaking betrayals and get some great action sequences. I read this in one sitting, and wanted more when I finished. The only slight hurdle was keeping up with all the characters. I know that they're there for a reason, but I find myself stopping periodically to try to remember who they are. However, this doesn't take away from the main storyline. Overall, this was another great read!
Ok, was anyone else but me like, "Um why doesn't Lissa just turn to mist and go get the baby from the Green Fae?!" Because it seems to me that would've made the most sense, she just traveled the universe as energy killing Ra'Ak and their spawn, SO why doesn't she just go to mist, or energy and get her baby back?! It makes no sense whatsoever for her to join an army. This is not the first time she has been placed in a spot of almost servitude, it seems like the author has made Lissa WANT to do these menial things. Like Lissa herself does not want to be anything but someone's personal slave. Otherwise why would she keep going to do these kinds of things?! In the book where she woke up on the High Demon planet, she didn't try to get away, but then chapters later she is traveling around the universe no problem, or training, why?! This is similar instead of just misting in and getting the baby, she signs up to be someone's personal body guard, she's got the traveling down so there was no point. And Red Hand, I really do not understand how this could ever catch a foot hold, people are dumb, but I am fairly sure that they are not stupid enough to ever allow a religion that is based on torture and rape, and nothing else to be allowed to practice. And how are these people getting to be in such powerful places when everyone know what they are doing, makes no sense to me at all. These books really started in a good place, but now there seems to be too much trying to be jammed into them and it is taking away from a cohesive idea.
